Oregon Women Fall To No. 20 Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Joan Bonvicini won her 200th game with Arizona, and Shawtinice Polk had 16 points and 11 rebounds as the No. 20 Wildcats defeated Oregon 96-65 Thursday night.

Bonvicini improved to 200-133 in 12 years at Arizona and 525-204 overall. She coached at Long Beach State for 12 seasons before turning around the Arizona program.

The Wildcats (8-3, 2-1) built a 19-point first half lead behind Polk, who scored 14 points in the opening 10 minutes. Polk finished with her ninth double-double of the season.

Krista Warren had 18 points and nine rebounds for Arizona.

Oregon (5-7, 1-2) got 19 points from Carolyn Ganes, while Andrea Bills and Kayla Steen added 11 apiece.

Arizona pulled ahead with a 21-2 run midway through the first half. The Wildcats scored most of their first-half points in the paint and shot 57 percent from the floor.

The Wildcats led 43-29 at halftime.

Arizona relied on its perimeter shooting in the second half, making 8 of 12 3-pointers.
